Week 12/Things 19 & 20

On-line Mapping & GIS - So far, Community Walk is my favourite of the 23 Things. I just came back from Victoria, B.C. and received inquiries re: shopping, restaurants, sightseeing from a co-worker who will be holidaying there soon. It was such fun finding bookstores, shoe store, restaurants, points of interest that I went to on my holiday- marking them on the map and emailing them to my co-worker. Very useful! Now I'm going to attempt to embed a google map of my old stomping grounds - the beautiful Fort Qu'Appelle, SK.

Week 11/Things 17 & 18

In reality it is Week 13, but I have been on vacation for the last 2 weeks and am now playing catch-up.
Social Bookmarking: I checked out DIIGO - which would make a great pet name, by the way. I did not feel the need to open an account because it doesn't fit my current needs in the workplace or at home. However, I can appreciate that it could be a great tool if you were doing collaborative research.
Widgets: I also added a countdown widget/gadget to my igoogle page - the one I chose has a progress bar. It emphasizes the urgency I feel to complete my 23 Things!!! Thanks for giving us an extra week!

Week 10, Things 15 & 16

Facebook - I must be a very unsocial person as I have no desire to create an online profile. It offends my sense of privacy - although it is probably useful for reconnecting with distant friends and family. From a 'working in the e-world' point of view, I can see it as a way of keeping in touch with our users as most students seem to use facebook.

Twitter - I did set up a twitter account, browsed through the subject list and picked some twitter streams to follow. Great method for keeping up with popular culture/celeb gossip. For news, I perfer RSS feeds.
